About Me:

Serving Our Community

My name is Tony Matlock, and I’m honored to be a candidate for Eaton City Council, which I am on the ballot for in the upcoming November 4th election.

Eaton has always been home to me. It’s where I was raised, where I raised my own family, and where they are now raising theirs.

I earned an MBA while earning a living, with Eaton being where I've spent my life building a career in manufacturing leadership, solving problems, leading teams, and driving continuous improvement regarding safety, productivity, and efficiency.

With this background, I bring years of hands-on experience in managing multiple resources, large budgets, and complex operations — the kind of work that requires real accountability and solid decision-making.

I would be a new face to elected office in Eaton, but not new to leadership, or to serving Eaton. I have the privilege of serving on the Downtown Eaton Inc. Board of Directors, helping to bring our community events like the annual Car Shows, Community Fun Fest, and the annual White Christmas celebration to name a few, and generating funds to invest in the revitalization of our downtown area.

I also serve as co-chair of the Preble County Workforce Development Committee, where I work alongside other community leaders to support local businesses, improve job opportunities, and strengthen our community by driving decisions that help to make Eaton a place people want to live and work, promoting short and long term growth.

In working closely with other local leaders, I’ve seen the progress Eaton has made, and I have tremendous respect for those who have stepped up in the past to serve. Now, I feel the time is right to step forward in a new way, to build on the momentum and bring a fresh perspective to the decisions ahead. With this, I’m running to bring a new energy, build on the progress that’s been made, and work to get results by doing what’s best for our entire community.

I believe we can continue to grow while still protecting what makes Eaton the special place that it is. I would be focused on those priorities that matter most to my fellow residents:

• Improving and Maintaining safe, reliable infrastructure - roads, sidewalks, stormwater systems -through smart long-term planning.

• Supporting our parks, neighborhoods, and community spaces to keep Eaton family friendly and welcoming.

• Being a Champion for small businesses and local workers, including efforts supporting job training and bolstering entrepreneurship.

• Maintaining budget transparency and ensuring every tax dollar is used efficiently and responsibly.

• And most of all, I'd be an accessible, responsive voice for all residents of our community.

I became and stayed active in our community because I care about where we’re headed, and I’m ready to bring that same commitment to city council.

Even now, I attend every city council meeting, because I care about what is going on. I've helped facilitate the sourcing of funds to improve the playground at Fort St. Clair, have written letters to the state to assist in securing funds for our parks, and spent time with residents planning the layout of a new park area.

This isn’t about politics for me — it’s about stepping up and bringing new ideas, a strong work ethic, and a desire to serve Eaton.

I’ve spent years listening to our residents, working with local organizations, volunteering locally for many years to raise money for numerous charities and causes, and finding solutions to the kind of issues that matter most.

I’m not here to push any kind of personal agenda — I’m here to work with everyone, with the goal of keeping Eaton strong. I am a candidate that is committed to Eaton not just for the next four years, but for many years to come.

Lastly, know that I believe in thoughtful leadership that is grounded in listening, collaboration, and common sense. If elected, I will serve with humility, accountability, and a commitment to working for the good of Eaton’s future and to make a positive, lasting

impact.

I’d be honored to have your support this November, and I look forward to many conversations between now and Election Day.

Thank you!
